"Mandatory" Options (LOL) in US Cars?

It's getting close to the time to do final spec's on my car. I want a very basic car with manual transmission. In fact, the only option I want tto pay is the +$675. charge for metallic (JetBlue) paint.

My dealer now says the the "Navigation System" - priced at $2.000. - is required on all US R8's. Anone hearing anything similar?

With the exception of the camera - These are must haves for the car anyway (Especially for a road not track)

I agree, BUT, shouldn't the decision be upto the Driver/Purchaser? Not the dealer! I reckon it's just a nice way to increase profits/revenue!

Aston Martin Vantage has small wheels as std but 19" as an option. They actually don't(didn't) make the standard wheels!

IMHO the car should only be available with every single option included and mandatory, regardless of how it reflects on the msrp of the vehicle. Go big or go home ladies and gents... but thats just my opinion.

Re: "Mandatory" Options (LOL) in US Cars?

kind of agree - maybe not every single option e.g. a towbar but all the options that the majority of buyers would desire. If you consider how much more it costs in time and money to build a vehicle when there are thousands of permutations the extra cost for nicer options can largely be removed by just making them the standard with no alternative. So that £76k car with £10k of options could be £80k all in if we all would accept identical cars!

    You're correct - it's just your opinion!
