You should be able to look into rear exhust grills and see if you have the valve or not.

you are correct, and I do see them....little lever arm coming up to a bellcrank on the outer pipe....so it's NOT that they left the exhaust valves out....but I really think they changed SOMETHING

see my comment to gazza1 on his post about his new replacement engine install....his mech is showing him some obvious small changes in the externals on the engine and he was informed that the new v8 engine he was getting was "improved and refined" or words to that effect, since Feb. '09.

with me, this is a question of my sound and butt-dyno memory from quite a bit of driving but over a year ago.....might be easy to fool me with it being such a nice new car and all

BUT, when gazza posted that about Audi informing him that he was getting a "new and improved" v8, it kind of confirmed my gut feeling that SOMETHING is different. Makes me very very curious to know what???????

I just had both chips re-flashed during the 5000 mile service. Maybe that is the reason I feel the increased low end response???

Man, you guys are a bad influence...

I'm into keeping my vehicles as quiet as possible.

I do a lot of off road stuff (motocross, woods riding, desert racing, etc.) and sound is one of our biggest enemies, as it tends to piss off the God ****ed Greenie Assholes ( yes, let me tell you what I think of Tree Huggers... - but I do tread lightly and not go off trails/tear up the world). Anyhow, quiet is always better in my world.

Then I go and start reading these 11 pages and my fiance' joins in and says "Oh, the car would sound great with that mod!" (she's become a car geek after meeting me; I've ruined her!).

So it looks like I'll have to go pull that little vacuum line and see what all the noise (yea, pun intended) is about!

Now just to put the cat amongst pigeons. If you fitted a little solenoid operated valve in the vac line with a switch in the cab or even the engine bay ???
