Milltek is awesome !!

I have just had the resonated milltek cat back system fitted. The sound is fantastic......not too loud , just deeper at low revs but when you hit 4k ..fantastic. I'm glad I didn't go for the unresonated.... I think it would have been too loud ....except for track days !!
The standard exhaust tips are kept.... oval ones burn the rear valance !! so useful for insurance purposes.
THe car certainly revs up faster and I have convinced myself that I can feel the extra 20 or so horses Milltek claim (on dyno)
When I get a chance I will measure the dbs.

6 hours is about the halfway point actually. It's a pretty serious time consuming undertaking. Most shops will charge for two days labor.

I'll let you know how quick I can do it for the third time next week.

Do you work for Stratmosphere over there in NY? If so, I have a question for you. I have a 911 turbo w/ Milltek exhaust I fitted a year or so ago (Stratmosphere supplied) and an RS6 w/ Milltek from Stratmosphere. I love the sound of both but wondered if they were resonated or non - can you say? Milltek in the UK sells both and I was thinking of doing my R8 in London but wanted a reference point from my US cars. I assume Stratmosphere only sells one or the other as it doesn't say on their web site.

Howdy Maverick, yes I do. I would bet heavily that your systems are resonated. However, I would still have to recommend the non-res on the R8. I was at Milltek for the entire development of the system. The non-res would be available there, you would just have to ask, probably via phone. We recorded non real change in cabin noise between the res/non-res and the actual exhaust note on the non-res is just fantastic.

The non-res has no drawbacks that some traditional cars have, such as:

no 'drone' associated with auto trannies
no additional cabin noise (well if you listen very carefully you can hear the valvetrain noise, very cool, very quiet)

This magical combination is all because of the layout! So get the non-res, enjoy the right-pedal response, and enjoy.

I'm wondering what the differences between the CAT-BACK Non-Resonated and the CAT-BACK w/ Secondary Catalyst are in terms of performance, potential issues, and pricing - THANKS!

also (i know this isn't part of this thread but...) I have the 2009 R8 coming in this November with everything EXCEPT the following options and I'm wondering if there's anything I should've 100% included...I tried to keep it minimal for weight and simplicity:

Cruise Control, Alcantara Headlining, Carbon Engine Bay (should've got it but it wasn't available at the time), Leather gear knob, Alcantara Leather Interior, and Bucket Seats.

Mine is from Audi Korea so whatever options you're confused about may be due to Country-specific specifications. In addition my car is an R-Tronic with Carbon Fiber Sigma side blades.

I heard this car in person on a local guy's car and the sound is best described as aggressive and intoxicating!

Pure music for any true car guy and this is just one awesome V-8 sound.....
