what Milltek exhaust is fitted to my car?

i recently bought a R8 v8 with a milltek exhaust fitted already...

and i dont know if its the resonated or non res milltek exhaust, how can i find out which exhaust i have?

i want the exhaust to be louder... when i start it cold the car souds great! but then when the "coldstart time" runs out the exhaust turns quite boring:P

In that case I suspect you have the resonated version. Is there any way you can locate the previous owner and ask them?

I'm not familiar with the Swedish car registration process but here and in the UK you can look at the car reg document and see who the former keeper was.

Maybe the garage you purchased it from can contact the previous owner for you and have the previous owner contact you.

I was told the U.S. only received non resonated version of the Milltek. Not sure about the other side of the pond. Having said that, I have the non res version and am quite happy with it.

maby ill just remove the rear bumper and have a look... can you see a diffrence between the non and the resonated one?

I think the only way to tell the difference is to remove the heat shield and check the size and/or quantity of silencers.

NVR, if anything I would think the US only receive the resonated version and non-res is available on special order because Milltek are a UK-based company and sell plenty of the non-res version throughout the UK for different car brands.

Not sure really. Only going by what was told to me from the vendor I purchased from.

Definite noticeable difference between the two pictures here are the silencers on the pipe in the picture above which are not on the pipes to the left of the main silencer body in the second picture.

So, your best bet to determine which type you have is to remove the exhaust, then the heat shield and see if yours has the extra silencers on the pipes which come from the engine,

This is just a guess, but you *might* be able to determine what exhaust it is using a peephole/snake inspection camera.

Check out the videos on YouTube of the quicksilver exhaust. I didn't like it and went with the Tubi Style Rumore non-valve system instead.
