I will add that I installed the K&N filters recently without any install issues, no problems, and I noticed a faint increase in power--but it isn't crazy insane extra power.

There are previous old posts about issues with K and N filters needing extra oil or allow too big a particle through. Is there still these issues and concerns regarding K and N filters ?

I think any time a new part is installed on the R8, you have to let the car's computer "get used" to it... So you turn on ignition and leave car running for 8 - 10 minutes as it learns the difference from the last air filter you had. People that install a new part and then start revvinng the engine are just looking for problems or check engine lights to come on. So I was told anyways by the techs at German Motoring.
From recent incidents reported here I would say to much oil is not the way to go, a couple people have had their MAFs messed up from that. Stock filters are dry so the aftermarket I'm now using are also dry. I find it tough to believe any quality filter would allow big particles to go through, whole point of them is to not allow that

Installed mine last weekend.... can really tell the difference at the low end. I have a 6MT and
the initial pull to get the car moving as you feather the fuel is less! Have not tested the top
end yet but will do so.
Agree 100%, never install a part and gun the engine.... treat her like a lady boys.

taking my time it took 20 minutes.
