Hi, proud owner of a 2011 Audi R8 V10 Spyder here.
I thought, what the heck, you only live once, and decided it was time to start improving the performance of my car.
I wanted to do the APR tune (+59 hp) since it seems to have pretty good performance tweaks and reviews here. I have heard the STASIS ECU tune (+55 hp) is also decent, however perhaps more tweaked for 91 Octane (I get 93 Octane where I live).
Anyways, at my local german tuning facility "German Motoring", they have access to a UK Racing team ECU upgrade and also offer a TCU upgrade to improve the shifting characteristics of the R-Tronic system.
Anyone out there have any experience with a TCU upgrade on this type of car? As far as I know, it improves the slow shifting times of the R-tronic significantly and also shifts at a higher, more aggressive rpm. Not sure any more details beyond that. I researched online and only found one company that advertises such a product: http://www.mtm-online.de/en/Audi/R8-...?FZID=R8SP386Q
The MTM cost is rather ridiculous ($5991 EUR which is about $7700 US!!!) and I have a MUCH MUCH better deal through my local guys.
I also ordered the K+N Air Filters.
Anyways, I opted to do the APR ECU Tune AND the German Motoring TCU Tune.
Will update on results...
EDIT: German Motoring now has their upgrade available via a flash product AFAIK: http://germanmotoring.com/r8-5-2-r-t...ware-upgrades/
People can read through the posts to see my thoughts... but overall, very worthwhile upgrade, and more of a difference with the TCU tune compared to the ECU tune. (I had a chance to drive with the ECU tune for a couple months before adding on the TCU tune).
