2009's sitting at the dock!

My 2009 was built in the week of June 23rd. The dealer tells me it's been shipped to the USA, and is currently sitting on the dock in Houston. The reason? Corporate has not released the 2009 pricing yet. Translation: The software tools the dealer must use to process the sale are still all showing 2008 models and prices. They have to wait for the 2009 updates to happen before they can process it and take delivery. That's supposed to happen on July 28, but the dealer tells me last year the update was a week or two late. So he said realistically, expect to take delivery the 2nd week of August. So if you're in the same situation, that's what's happening.

So, still MORE waiting. Ugh.

How can you have a 2009 R8 manufactured by Audi in 2008 ??? please explain as well how can they put a spec plate on a car in 2008 for 2009

Car manufacturers' model years run from August to August. That's just how they do it. Watch the TV car ads now, they are filled with 2009s, and also clearance sales on the old 2008's. The manufacturers release the specs for the 2009's in advance so they can take orders. They want to have an inventory of the new years' models when the sales year begins in august. My 2009 R8 was built in June of 08.

My 2009 has been in the dealer showroom for 3 weeks while I have been out of the country. Having said that Audi told me when it arrived that they could not release it until August 1 since NO 2009s can be released prior. Pricing was not the issue as this was known months and months ago.
