Anyone has any idea how to get a push button start? just like Nissan 2009. I don't know if it is possible to do an aftermarket modification. Thank you. Happy new year![]()

Ok i will take the question seriously
Speaking from experience push button is nice as long as it is keyless.Having to turn or insert a key first and then press a button is a pain.
Not sure how you could modify a R8 to achieve that.
One feature that I wish the R8 had is a total keyless approach.
With the Nissan you just push a button on the door to lock and unlock and jump in and press the start button.Key never comes out of the pocket.Very convenient.
Footnote..the start button does not make the car feel anymore special in any way.

Life Is Full Of Surprises.
My XKR has a keyless system with the start push button and I have really gotten accustomed to it. I was surprised that I had to use a key when I first took an R8 out for a test drive. Audi may have some sensible reason for this that is not real obvious?

Didn't the big diesel R8 concept have a push button start on the steering wheel?

actually i don't mind the R8 having the key option. Mind you, none of my other cars require using a key, but not a big deal.
I saw a video once, showing that the head of development wanted the key turning option on the R8. It brings a sense of turning on the beast, something you lose in the push button start.
I agree there is no point in push button start without key-less entry. I thought the key was a but old fashioned when I ordered the car but now I don't mind it.
i think key-less entry and PB start will really come into their own when the transponder is genuinely credit card size or built in to your phone. Until then you are still carrying an extra item.

R8 V10 R-T, Audi TT, BMW X5, Loads of other cars gone but not forgotten
We have retrofitted keyless start to VW Phaetons and Audi A6's, but they have to have the KESSY module (keyless entry) already installed. Adding that as well as keyless start would be a huge undertaking, particularly for a car specifically designed not to accommodate this.
In the aftermarket, there could be something... ?

I also wanted this on the R8. Brought it up with a Lamborghini engineer and he had two comments. 1) "A supercar should have a key that you should turn over to hear the rev of the engine as it comes alive." 2) The system adds considerable weight to the car. Of note, the new LP-700 has a push button start.
