In an effort to revive the Spanish-Swiss luxury automaker of the '20s and '30s; Hispano-Suiza is planning a return to automaking (at least in name) with the debut of the Audi R8-based supercar at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show.

The Hispano-Suiza supercar is said to produce 750 horsepower from the Audi 5.2 FSI V10 and carry a price tag of nearly $1 million.


At first glance, it's obvious that this car shares more than an engine with the Audi R8 5.2 FSI. Styling consists of an exaggerated, eclectic mix of lines reminiscent of both the R8 and E-Tron. Of course, the car does have a certain Mediterranean supercar "flair" to help differentiate itself from those carrying a four-ringed emblem.

In addition to the 750 horsepower car, Hispano Suiza is reportedly building a 900 horsepower hybrid version, featuring a 150 hp electric motor powering the front wheels in addition to the supercharged 750 hp V10 at the rear. During city driving, the Hybrid will run entirely on the electric motor.

Performance figures are impressive, but not worthy of a $943k supercar price tag. The 750 horsepower, Hispano Suiza V10 should run from 0-100kmh (62 mph) in 3.4 seconds, reaching a top speed of 330 kmh (205.5 mph).

Is it cool? Sure, but it's no Veyron.
