To remap or not to remap? (UK)

I was expecting to find lots of clear info on these pages about flashing/remapping the car - expected gains, where to get it down, etc. Instead, lots of disputes So - has anyone in the UK had their R8 (V8) remapped? Where did you take it and what difference did it make, please? Also, did anyone do it without upgrading the exhaust? Thanks for any replies.

I believe Awesome GTI in Manchester are good and offer both APR and Revo Technik remaps. The APR remap provides more of an increase.

I've not had a remap myself as the gains are so meagre and I am currently enjoying the factory power but if you do want a remap these are the guys to bear in mind.

On a side-note, have you sold the Fiat Coupe and purchased an R8 yet Niall?

    Thanks for the answer.

According to the ads at the back of Evo there's a place just down the road from me here in Essex (AMD Technik in Thurrock). Anyone had dealings?

    Hi Neil

There are loads of posts on the subject ,I know tis because I have posted lots on this subject.

I had the revo remap done (after I had the miltek fitted).
I had the remap done by Pro sport (the revo dealer in manchester) and I know the guys at awesome gti ,but they did not have the remap facility when I had it done.
I had some communication with AMD technik and whilst they have done nothing for me,they seemed very professional, and they did a couple for people who post on here (Or did).

Results...well impossible to say because the rolling road at pro sport could not get a sensible reading. What I will say is the car is a lot faster with most noticably a load more torque, you don't have to change down anywhere near as much.
I came in to the r8 from a 997tt and prior to that a M6 so the r8 did seem sluggish at first, but with the remap it is seriously quick,as quick as you need a car to be in the uk.I would say with t he remap and exhaust it is about porsche gt3 quick as I drove one ,got into mine and noticed no difference in performance. The remp has quelled my desire for a v10 as I cannot see how you can use any more speed ..and my car just sounds incredible (i have a clip on you tube of the milltek after installation).
I went the revo route as I read they had good gains and you can buy a switch which flips the car back to standard setting if required.
Overall delighted,if you are ever near manchester let me know and you can come fro a drive to experience the differnce.
I will say my car is manual ,not sure about the remap with the auto as it seems there are continual recalls from audi with the auto gearbox. The miltek demonstrator I drove was auto and that had a rempa done by amd technik and that was very quick as well.

Maybe a good re-map will quell my desire for a turbo, s.c., or nitrous? Not neccessarily in that order. \"/

Of course, you wonder who's doing the programing, etc.. EVOMS offers 28 HP for significantly more $. I know tuning is not rocket science any more but I might have more faith in their product.
