Track day yesterday. 1st session with Hoosiers R6s' automatically 3 seconds quicker than Pirelli Corsas R compound. Each session 1 sec. faster and quicker. Total AT LEAST 6 sec. better than last Buttonwillow sessions. Best time now 2.07. I think I can make it down to 2 flat after brake mods. Under 2 with different wing/splitter. Once I reach my goal of that, Ill stop tracking my R8, My Biatch is just too fine to be thrashing her too much. Word of advice, Make sure your as tank has PLENTY of fuel. I thought I still had plenty, I got low at end of day. Fuel starvation at Phil Hill was like letting off at WRONG time. Was going too hot anyways, but I got left side in the dirt, then corrected/swerved, and got right side into dirt. Got my tires dirty...A NO NO.(for me). I will not be secretive with any of my findings/knowledge. After all, when will I be racing any of you? Ultimately everyone will agree that R-tronic is the best for racing. I was dismayed to hear MTs' click clack of his shifting at track. ASTOUNDED to hear Bodhiis' "Mike Tyson" shifting...(which I am sure was a contributing factor in his crunching of his car). Desparado, you got me started on all of this...When can we dice and slice? Smoking other makes and models just doesn't do it for me anymore. By the way, my dealer told me I had enough brake-pad left for one more track day. I drove all the way home, 130 miles or so with out any pads left. I didnt use my brakes all the way home. I actually drove like a "NORMAL" citizen. The New Black Porsche Turbo I smoked at the track must of felt ROYAL, when he blasted past me on the way back to L.A. Oh well. Lotus Challenge cars with all the downforce you could imagine, Vettes, G35s,S 2000s (made freinds with Alex who had a Lambo emblem on front hood of his S2000--We bonded).The fastest car out there was a Japan built/sponsored Mitzubishi top 'O the line, Miatas with 300 hp,weighing 2,000 lbs etc.etc. Buttonwillow is a tight, tight track that is very technical. Not at all like the two high speed straights at Spring Mountain Nevada track, where a shot of nitrous, TT or SC, is required.

Harrison, I am just curious whether you tow your R8 to the track OR did you drive your car to the track w/ the Hoosiers on?
I used to tow my track car, but I prefer to drive it to the track.... less work!

I drive my car to the track and everywhere lately on the slicks. I wish to use slicks ALL the time from now on. (except for touring/LOONNGG trips, then I'll use my stock wheels (smoke chromed w/ Hankook Ventus V 12 EVO tires). I'm monitering the tire life very closely. So far 1 track day, 4 canyon runs and a total of 1,000 miles. They are good for another track day, and hopefully I can squeeze 2000 miles (or more) out of them. I love the Hoosiers !!!!!! But realistically it would be better to have a freind truck the race set of tires and wheels to trak. When you thinking of buzzing up to Buttonwillow? Maybe we can synchronize with Desparado for a great track day. THREE R8s on the track at same time will feel WONDERFULL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Geez Harry, you are a bad influence! My son and I shared the R8 at Spring Mountain, and between the two of us we corded the R888s in the last session. Toyo is completely out of stock of the rears in the USA for a couple of weeks, and we have another event coming up soon. After trying unsuccessfully to find another option for R-comps in our sizes (passed on the Michelin PSC due to cost and unfavorable comments), I now have a set of Hoosier R6s for the car.

Everyone says they are like heroin - once you try them you can't stop and you spend all your money feeding the habit.

Heroin?? Uh Oh. \"/ Let me know if you find a shop that will heat-cycle them.They might be real easy to seat the bead when real warmed up. They are extremely stiff sidewalls.

Got them from tire rack. Came on the second day, and they heat cycle them on a roller rig for an add'l $15 each. I'll let you know how the mounting goes...
