Looking for SoCal R8 for suspension & brake R&D

    Hi All,

Without giving too much away, we are looking for an R8 (4.2 or 5.2) owner in SoCal that is interested in beefing up the brakes and/or suspension on their cars.

We are working with a tuner that is looking to get into this chassis. They have some great products on the market and are not a stranger to motorsports, so you'll be in good hands.

More details are forthcoming as we get them. Post if you're game. You know who you are...

Re: Looking for SoCal R8 for suspension & brake R&D

My name is Harry, and its been 3 days since I had a drive in my R8 .(too much construction going on) Well I am still taking baby steps. Just upgraded to EBC yellow pads and they seem to be the cat's meow/EXCELLENT. My next brakes upgrade might be another stock set of rotors that will be turned on the car and a carbonics ? pad set up. A dedicated track set of bedded in track rotors/pads. My lap times should come down next track day with the awesome stopping power I am now experiencing. Then we'll see if a set of springs can lower the track time even more. What did you have in mind ? Free stuff is always an interesting option ! Stay away from my R8 because she stops more radically than ever, and handles better than ever with the slicks. Pretty much a perfect machine right now. Now when I jump in for a ride it is truly, a mind expanding experience. Maybe I don't have the quickness of a V 10, but I am really pleased with my R8 and these mods. \"/ I know I'm not the ONLY happy camper at this forum !!

    Hi Harry,

Where did you order your EBC yellow from for the R8?
I need to get some new pads, and I think been consider the EBC yellows.

    Thx.

Re: Looking for SoCal R8 for suspension & brake R&D

Purchased from www.AutoMD.com. Be prepared to do some filing/fitting on the fronts. Some filing required to remove paint and a little metal from bottom notches on front pads. These really are race pads. No squeeks, faster braking, making for some neck snapping, if not careful. Some of the easist pads I ever changed. The real test will be at the track. But these are great for the street, for sure. Instructions say to take it easy for first 100 mi. I did and wow ! I thought the stock brakes were pretty good. Now they are wicked good. \"/ And they are very low dust. A plus considering the stock pads like to "paint the wheels" very quickly.
