    R8 V10 or R8 V8

Do I buy a V10 or get a V8 and then supercharge it?

By a V10, if not happy with the performance, supercharge that! Maverick could advise, as he has s/c'd his V8.

Cost of supercharging the V8 will bring it to about cost of just buying the V10, I say buy the V10 and have 4 years of warranty on a very expensive engine to fix.

I say it kind of depends on why you are buying an R8. (Track, Daily Driver) But, buy the V8 and turbo it... The Twin Turbo will take both Supercharger and V10! It's great on the track and its great as a daily driver. The turbo kits gives you crazy power, and looks much better than Supercharger... No question - R8 V8 Heffner Twin Turbo!

Its all a cost/benefit thing. If I was starting fresh I'd consider the V10 as you get the warranty. I had a V8 and wanted more power so went with SC from VF Engineering as it was far cheaper than upgrading to a V10. My car is in the UK so Heffner TT was out and I was worried about heat generation and general engineering vs. SC. If you are looking for used cars I suspect the V8s are cheaper and a V8 + SC might be more cost effective than a V10. I haven't driven a V10 nor driven alongside one in my supercharged V8 so I can't compare.

If you can afford to, Man-up and go with the V 10. Learn it, (Such safety technology) then do your upgrades. You will be happier. Back when I purchased my R8 there were only rumors of the V 10. And most people at that time were paying 50 to75K above sticker. Like Desparado made me realize...Big engined stuff will be fazed out little by little as time goes on. Heck,Even Formula One has reverted from V 10 back to V 8. \"/

Thanks for all your replies. I'm still undecided as both choices have pluses and minuses.
Here are my reasons for going with each:
    V10
    Warranty
    Sepang Blue Color
    LED lights standard
    B & O standard
    Better leather package standard

    V8 + Supercharger
    Will make 550 + HP
Like the way it looks from hatch

Looks like the v10 wins, now I just have to get the finances in order.

Just to make your decision a little more difficult , IMO the V8 sounds better.

There are a lot of v 8s with warranty still left, heck I am going to extend my warranty in the next few days.

Got say I agree having "met" a V10 at the Mont Tremblant ACNA event last October ...sounded rather high pitched and wimpy compared to the V8's
