New exhaust, new intake and ECU flash will get you some HP, but nothing near a turbo or supercharger. Some members have done all three and seem to be pleased per their posts.
" N I T R O U S " Even twin turbos in conjunction WITH a supercharger and nitrous injection. My freind has this set-up on his Drag Boat. ... \"/ Imagine a large (Mooneyhan 871 like I have on my V8 boat) supercharger sticking up through the rear glass with a hat/scoop/butterflies sucking air from above the roof line !!!!

Ed hit it right on the head. Intake, exhaust and a chip is your best bet short of forced induction (or NOS if you're insane)...

Does anyone have a good ECU reflash they have been happy with?? I am a fan of GIAC but they do not have a reflash yet available. I have the EVOMS intake, stasis exhaust and would like a quality flash program for the ECU.
REVO also has a flash for the V8 and a free trial revotechnik.com
We are an APR reseller and have been very happy with them in comparison to other software companies.

I've contacted STaSIS and they told me they are coming out with an ECU reflash and intake kit to complement the exhaust in the next month or so.

While not "technically" adding horsepower, some of the most cost effective & reliable "power" gains can be achieved by lightening rotating components - i.e. clutch & flywheel, wheels and drive shafts.
In clutch & flywheel the gains appear "greatest" in lower gears, and drop off at gear ratio goes down. In a relatively high reving engine such as the R8, dropping weight off the flywheel and clutch ought to yield a decent amount of measured power gains in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears on a chasis dyno.
While wheels don't spin up (& down) quite as fast as transmission drive line components, dropping rotating mass off them (think Dymag CF wheels for example) also offer, sometimes substantial, braking (rotating) and ride (bouncing up/down) control improvements.
That said, I see in the latest issues of the local car magazines, the "new" 2011 Audi A8 4.2 is spec'd to provide @ 472 bhp. Maybe us poor 4.2L R8 guys ought to just see if we can't get the dealership to drop one of the new 4.2's in our tired, old beasts. Anyone know if the 472 is due to some major mechanical changes in the motor, or just clever marketing &/or an electrical CPU re-flash? Cheers
PS - oh yeah, reducing the weight of brake components, especially the disks/rotors fall in the same category as Dymags, and say 18" vs. 20 or 22" wheels :-)
