Spring Mountain Motorsports - R8 times?

A group of us are headed for Las Vegas next week for a couple of days at the track at Spring Mountain Motorsports - www.springmountainmotorsports.com We'll be at the track Thursday & Friday, 4/22-23, party at the MGM after.

Anyone have rough idea of typical R8 lap times on the 2.2 mile configuration? V10 vs. V8 times? Cheers

Sorry, we have only run the 3.1 mile configuration with Audi Club. Maybe Harrison ran the 2.2 and can help you?

I am sure you will have a great time at Spring Mountain. This track and Miller Motorsport are my two 'home' tracks. At SM, the 3.1 is the usual track event configuration. If you are there for a private track event, I would be surprised if you don't end up driving the 3.1 instead. This is a great time of the year for it. Perfect weather with Hi's about 80F.

That being said, I love the 2.2!! It is a crazy quick configuration, especially thru 3 & 4,(always feels slick coming out of 4, no one knows why..), and very quick again thru 9 & 10. This 2.2 config is actually rarely used, but its really a lot of fun. I forget my times for it. Time differences between a V8 and V10 will be VERY small on the 2.2. Less than 2 secs max.

For the 3.1 anything faster than 2.5 min is very fast for a street car.
    Enjoy!

Thanks. I believe, but then my memory is always suspect, the lap record for the "streetable" Corvettes on the 2.2 mile circuit with the factory "pros" driving the C6's may have been somewhere in the 1:46-48 second range. I think a few Vette school clients get in the mid to low 1:50's, and these times may have recently dropped with the School's switch from the OEM Goodyear run flats on the cars to Michelin's with the arival of Ron Fellows and the additon of his name to their Corvette driving program.

I can attest to the excellent grip of the Michelin PS2 ZP runflats on the ZR1. Surprising amount of grip for a street tire.

Well we're back, & I am happy to say no cars were damaged in the process.

FWIW, the fastest timed laps on the newest Michelin PS2 tires using the school's C6 ZO6's turned in by the clients was a 1:54.48, on the Michelin Cup tires that time dropped to 1:52.674. These were on the "original Bragg Smith version" medium speed 2.2 mile 10 turn layout. Lot of fun, no majors car offs, no damages, Great two days.

Any R8 times, since that is what this thread started off with?

It's all about the tread rating...Lower rating number means softer compound ,wearing faster. A race/street compound is around 130. A street tire is 200. Let's hear some of you guys' tread ratings. My Hankook street tire Evo Ventus V 12 is a treadwear 280. My hoosier slicks are treadwear of 40. A difference like nite and day or even life or death.
