    Stasis ECU...... Worth it?

Just got an email from Stasis rep.

The ECU upgrade is currently available for $2,495 MSRP (+ install). I haven’t heard a final decision from engineering on whether an intake system will be part of performance package. Keep you posted.

I wonder what gains you get for that much?

I cant see how an ECU upgrade would do anything on a non-turbo car based on my experience with GM tuning. That's a huge price. I have a BMW135i and installed a Juicebox 3 chip and it screams with a 100 HP and TQ increase in power.

I like the R8 (I have the V8) but it's a dog on power IMO. The V10 addresses the power but its way too much $$$. I'm thinking of going back to the dark side and buying a Corvette ZO6 and modding the engine for even more power.

I think $2495 is too pricey for an ecu upgrade. I think Stasis products are getting very expensive. I.e. exhaust $5,000. Exhaust installation $1,000. ECU upgrade $2,500. Total $8,500. Now compare that to approx $32,000 for a Heffner TT system. $8500 is 26% of $32,000. Do the Stasis exhaust and chip generate 26% of Heffner TT's power gain ?

The packages are incredibly comprehensive: ECU, wheels/tires, suspension, brakes, exhaust, intake manifold, floor mats…oh, and of course the peace of mind of preserving your factory warranty.
Dollar for dollar, you’d be hard pressed to find a better price for performance value on the market.

That's the sell rep again......It doesn't seem that there cheaper then any other company

The APR ECU flash is $1199 and nets you 20hp and 13tq. I don't think the Stasis system will double that...

Does anyone know a distributor in the Miami area for APR products??? There history and products are usually 1st class.... I for one am interested in their ECU flash but I would like to see the dyno chart on the Stasis reflash...

If STaSIS items are purchased and installed a participating signature series dealership you can retain a factory warranty and if anything occurs with the vehicle that AoA absolutely refuses to handle STaSIS covers those repairs. In short a signature series car has the understanding that it is modified, these modifications are not supported by AoA, however they do not "void" the warranty they may interact with or for the parts they replace. If a STaSIS part fails it is replaced by STaSIS. If you have a faulty tie rod your standard warranty replaces it. If you have a motor failure and after examination a STaSIS part lead to the issue STaSIS covers the repair. This is what the premium price is on the signature series (authorized dealership installed and serviced) has to do with.

If you had an ecu flash from another source and walked into a dealership with a blown engine the dealership would examine the cause. If the cause turns out to be the modified software you have to foot the bill. This is the gamble. They would need to directly show that the software caused the issue if you hauled them to court over it, however who wants to get embroiled in a legal battle over something like this. Installing a Heffner TT setup is amazing, but hardly a warranty retaining setup either. I'd like one though

Now will the performance of the STaSIS gear be a multiple of what the existing aftermarket can do, no, but will it be comparable or better, yes.

It really boils down to the individual buyer and what their exact needs are out of the product and if they require the warranty safety net.

    Cheers,
    Alexander van Gerbig

Speaking from my little experience... I put on a STaSIS exhaust and did the revo tune. It costs me about 7000 bucks total. The throttle response seemed better, and the sound was much louder. But in terms of performance it was close to nothing. Certainly not worth spending what I did. I had this done at the dealer as they have a motorsports division and would warranty any work. But...

If I could do it over... I would have saved my money...

I had the car for just over 2 years and have 15k miles on it. I now have the Heffner TT which is what the car needed.

Absolutely agree, if you want big power and that's your goal the best plan is to go TT at the moment.

In the end it really boils down to the final goals of the owner. If you are looking to turn up the volume and really unleash the sound of the motor an exhaust is a great way to go. You will get small power gains, but the biggest gain is in sound experience.

If you are looking to refine the power delivery and gain a small amount of power a software flash will assist in this. With N/A motors there isn't much to gain from a software flash. Dyno charts from software flashes on these motors is almost worthless, genuine gains really aren't there but in many cases the purpose is to make the car more responsive to throttle inputs, to smooth out power delivery in some cases, generally to refine the factory tunes which are genuinely quite good to begin with.

If big power is what you want from day one, then a forced induction setup is the way to go it seems. At the moment looks like Heffner's setup is producing nicely repeatable and sustainable power gains. Congrats on your R8TT, very neat car!
