Egad! What have I gone and done??

I'm not quite sure what got under my skin this week,

but I've lost all sense of civility, control and the ability to quench my lust.

I think it's reaction to my girlfriend moving out!

I'M FREE!!!

My beloved 2008 Dayton/black 6M R8 is getting a little attention...

Because I bought this car straight off a lot, (it was used with a whole 168 miles) there have been a few things that I've wanted that didn't come with the car. Mainly carbon goodies and the Alcantera headliner. I love it in my RS6 and the regular stuff looks, well, cheap compared to the Alcantera.

I've already done a few things:
Fully blacked out except for the Quattro badge on the grill
Dymags
Carbon engine bay
Carbon interior parts: Dash hoop, shifter surround, radio surround, e-brake handle, knee pads and the recesses in the center consol, door pulls and arm rests
Custom carbon fiber rear rings and R8 logo
Euro tail lights
Valentine 1 radar detector
Blinder X-treme M45 laser jammer

I enjoy bouncing around the vendor's sites, floating around on the board and seeing things that are now being offered for our wonderful machines.

This IS DANGEROUS too.

Come on, you know you ALL do it - "Oh look! A shiny!" and we're instantly wondering what it would look like on our car...
Rich and Alex have some beautiful stuff available to us. (these two stand out for me)

In case it's not obvious I have a carbon fetish.

And, ya know... A little more HP would be fun....

Yea, this all sounds good! Kind of sounds like the Ultimate R8 to me.

I've been toying with the idea of adding a little hp enhancement. I've looked at the threads about getting the ECU flashed and have talked to Rich about it too a couple of times. For some reason, the flash thing just never seemed like the ticket to me.

Exhaust - yea, but. I'm a stick in the mud when it comes to making the car louder. A little bit wouldn't hurt, but man, some of the systems I've heard on the board would drive me insane. Just doesn't seem like it's worth the money for the amount of hp you get either.

Still, I'm not closed minded about the idea of an ECU flash and an exhaust setup. So I've kept my eyes and ears open, listening to what you all have to say about the different setups. (and I thank all of you for the info we all share - this is really a killer place.)

Then I decide to try Harrison's little gizmo and installed a Sprint Booster - yea, that little buggers fun. With not quite being used to it, it does make me look like an idiot off the line when I'm not thinking about it, though. Why's the engine revving to 5K so quickly??? - Oh yea, the button's red. Duh.

Hey, that's pretty cool... I wonder what this thing would be like with REAL hp? It would have to be fun. It would JUST HAVE TO BE.

So I decided to make a couple calls, with the main one being to Jason Heffner yesterday. He informs me that the TT setup will be just a little louder than stock when just putting around.

By the end of July my R8 will have a few extra goodies!

I ordered the ceramic brake set (both front and rear) from Alexander.

Since I'm headed out west for a wedding (NOT MINE!) on July 4th, I figured that would be the perfect time to stop by Rich's place and have a few things added.

Let's see - yea, I want that Alcantera headliner and while you're at it, throw in the new Nav system and please make it work w/the I-touch. Those door sills and mirror housings are going to look nice with the PPI wing (in carbon, of course!) and since that TT system's going to tax the drive train a bit, please throw in a V10 clutch.

Oh my God, what have I done???

I can't wait to fly back out to So-Cal and drive her home sometime near the end of July.

Well, Richard, I guess it's okay (you were looking for approval, right?).

You couldn't even come close to buying the car you'll end up with. I might even come out to witness the pickup!

While you are out here, you should go to the track with us. Speedventures.com is going to Laguna Seca on the weekend of July 10, and we are considering going. Maybe you should put the car into OEMPlus after that weekend?
