OEM Seat Replacement

Has anyone replaced their US OEM seats with a light weight sport/racing seat suitable for 4-point seatbelt harness? If so, which seat did you use and how did you attach the harness?

I haven't replaced mine, so no direct experience. Here is one possible way to do so:

Vivid Racing sells the P-GT2 seat. Unlike the Audi option seat, these have side airbags (if that is important to you). Available in leather for $7,800 per set of two. These should fit the R8, but confirm before laying out your coin.


PPI makes a roll hoop with harness bar specifically for the R8. www.OEMPlus.com is your source for PPI stuff.

Despardos' pics of the seats remind me of Porsche 914 seats. Later 914 seats reclined just a few degrees.
