Is there any way to set the rear spoiler to deploy later than 100KM/hr?

Is it possible to set the rear spoiler to deploy later than 100KM/hr?
The spoiler should come out at least at a high speed, maybe 160Km/hr not 100Km/hr

The deployment of the rear spoiler is to keep you safe. Why would you want to take away the safety of the car? Better fuel mileage? Looks? I like my spoiler deployed.

I agree with the safety concern since many times when you hit 62 mph you are just on your way to a much higher speed and it take a second or two to fully engage.

Anyway, if you are determined to change it I am certain there is a memory location in the ECU that would allow you to modify it. You just need find that out and have someone who has the equipment to program it.

Just wire a switch into the spoiler and deploy when you want. I only use the thing at the slower tighter twisties . My PPI wing does the rest. The spoiler wires are accessable from the rear hatch latch opening. Cut into the RED wire. \"/

In the low speed range the down force produced by the rear spoiler is rather small and I don't think it will give any additional safety. I thought it would be better if it deploys for a reasonable safety or performance benefits.

Secondly when driving a little over 100 Km/hr, the spoiler comes up and stays there even if the speed of the car come down to 50 Km/hr. I'm in Bangkok Thailand where we have lots of traffic, it's kind a funny when you are driving a R8 at this speed and the thing sticks up, of cause we have an option to close it down manually but I wonder is there any way to adjust these settings to let it does automatically.

Thumbs up Re: Is there any way to set the rear spoiler to deploy later than 100KM/hr?

I use it for additional traction, downforce, and cooling. Some like the way it looks deployed all the time. You are the opposite. Given time, your preferences may change. It is truly an enthusiasts' car. Congratulations on becoming one of us. R8 enthusiasts !! Those who have departed from their R8s must truly be sad, unless they stepped it up to an exotic that costs twice as much. Happy motoring, as they say. C-yaaaaaaaaaaaa !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since I put on the Hofele spoiler lip I like driving with it up now. Also think it does help in cooling with the very hot weather we have been having.

Nice job, RS4CAB, (and MNGOLFER, and anyone else with that nice addition). Do you think the underside might look meaner if blacked out? When I get a chance I may black out my stock spoiler underside since I am running it up more and more lately. PPI must have known what they were doing .They designed the spoiler to still work, even with the large wing attatched.

Re: Is there any way to set the rear spoiler to deploy later than 100KM/hr?

Yesterday after I passed the 2,500 KM running-in (try to keep the rev under 6,000) I changed the engine oil and oil filter.

This morning I wanted to see how fast this R8 can do so I took the Express Toll Way from Din Deang to Don Mueng Airport. It was my first time to storm the R8 V10 at full rev, it reached 200Km/hr (125MPH) in just few seconds and amazingly it kept sprinting to 325Km/hr! (203MPH).

The R8 is very stable and I guess the rear spoiler was doing its job well.
