Which is the better air filters. PPI or Evoms?
If either of them are a gauze setup like a K&N, I'd not run it and stick with stock.
While an oiled gauze filter does a great job for a little while, they gum up and start choking out the car after a while. The oiled filters also like to take out MAF sensors if you get too much oil in the filter or don't let the oil's carrier evaporate before you use the filters.
Dry paper filters with a foam wrap, similar to stock, will last longer, filter better and are overall, safer for your car.
Side note to this mentality: This observation comes from many years of off road racing and playing. The oiled filter system is good for a few hundred miles and then they choke out badly. I've had good results running K&N's with a Uni foam wrap and also a dry nylon pre-filter over the Uni foam. The K&N is oiled as per instructions with the Uni wraps being left dry as a bone. I now run a regular old Ford E-series dry paper filter in my race car and have had absolutely no issues with this setup.

I have NO knowledge on the Evoms filter kit. BUT I can tell you that the PPI kit comes with BMC filters,(made in Italy), which are very similar to K&Ns- in construction, materials, cleaning and servicing. It is fact that the cotton gauze style filters are superior to paper in every way. Clean ,new, paper filters flow less than a dirty gauze filter.Just go into any decent auto parts store and they might have a flow bench that demonstrates the superior flow of the gauze types. As we all know, the manifold adapters are the key to being able to use an aftermarket filter. The really nice thing about the PPI manifolds is that they are coated in white. You can always tell , by running your finger onto the white area , whether any dirt or oil has gotten past the filters. We thought that maybe too much filter oil damaged my Mass Air Flow sensors. We were wrong. The Sprint booster finally confused the Brains of the computer. No issues related to my cleanable filters. I suspect that my filters have paid for themselves already.(a very fine thing). Just clean the filters as per the instructions. Lightly oil them and let the oiled filters sit in the sun for awhile. This was my first mod, and I mod ALL my vehicles right away with cleanable filters. I am considering covering my filters with the very popular socks. REMEMBER...Don't get crazy with the oiling process. Just coat the filters 'till they turn slightly pink. (from the RED aerosol filter oil). This was my 20 cents worth. Air filtration on dirt vehicles is a totally different subject. Sorry you still don't have a proper answer, Shawndama.![]()

I have an early model Sprint Booster. It has been removed , as per dealers' request-only for 1,000 miles then I can put it back on. I miss it dearly. I had my mag ride stuck off, traction controll stuck on and blinking on weightless situations, and ASR warning light on.They think that MAYBE the booster was the culprit. So, I will track her with the (seems fine) 24R4 a few laps, see if the Traction Controll light blinks at all. Then pop the Booster back in and see what happens. This time around I will try Hoosier R compound in a 325 size in the back. I am still unsure whether to try a 265 up front. I never had a problem with the front end washing out. With a 325 I will definitely be able to go 'round quicker. It's always the rear end that cuts loose first. Thre is a limit as to what can be acheived with the R8.At some point the weight of the car just takes you off the track. Sorry to get OFF-track-- but it's all RELATIVE.By the way, Right now my car is running smoother and sweeter than ever.24,000 miles now,and the power seems up there.

Change out your brake switch. They're supposed to be fairly inexpensive.
Also, before you change it out, make sure that it's not come loose from the hole it resides in. It's a twist to lock setup and if it comes loose, it backs out and the car sees brake pressures before it has a light activation and it throws the lights on, disables the shocks, the ESP button.
I just recently learned this little tidbit of information.

Good looking out.I'll relay to the service techs at my new favorite dealer. From dirty mass air flow sensors to a brake light switch.Such a complex machine brings hard to diagnose sitiations.

Arguing air filter systems IME is akin to discussing oil and religion. FWLIW, in my experience I'd weigh in on KfabR8's side. I'm not a big fan of K&N or most of the other after market foam filter systems. I'd love to see actual vehicle specific "before" vs after dyno, or well documented 0-60 or 1/4tr mile times to back up the inevietable power gain claims. In my personal experience running aftermarket K&N and some green foam products on several modified turbo cars, there always seemed to be a distressing amount of "grit" creep found on the wrong side of the air boxes. But as they say, YMMV (Your Mileage My Vary) Cheers, mike
Saw those EVOMS filters and venturi kit online....claims of great responsiveness and power/torque increases sounded tempting, but $1590.00 for just two K&N filters and two little (big-deal-billet) orifices?? Am I missing something there!

Anyone know where I can buy filter replacements for my EVOMS? Mine look pretty dirty and since I have the airbox with windows would like to change them.
