Anyone know if there's any major HP gain difference between them, one costs 1,100 (PPI) and the other costs 1595 (EVOms). Any recommendations from users who've tried any of them?

The PPI system needed some trimming here and there-on lid and the filters. (and a couple of dabs/dots of silicone sealer needed on box to eliminate any dust getting in) I could find no alternative to the PPI kit at the time of my purchase. Seat of the pants dyno--- sensed a little 'sumptin-'sumptin. Over-oiling/treating , of filters, could raise mass air flow sensors issues ? Cleaning of air filters has become sort of a ritual. Quick and easy. Can still track with-out a pit crew.

Thanks harrison. I've already got the miltek exhaust. Will the air filters give me a noticeable power upgrade?

I am pretty sure the stock new filter flows- less- air than a used cotton/gauze replacement filter, and the new manifold helps more air get to engine as well. So I can say at least a H.P. or two should be gained. There are Dyno stats out there that state more H.P. but everyone tends to exaggerate a bit. The engine seems to rev a little quicker with the kit installed. Together with the Miltek you will be a happy camper. I am. And no reliability has been lost.![]()

Hi Harrison. Interested in the PPI airfilter until I read your above post on the mini hack here and there, and got abit of turn-off. Thought it was plug-and-play from the look of it at oemplus. Anyway, you have any opinion on carbonio airfilter kit?
After being in the "car biz" for a lot of years, there is one thing I can tell you. And I think the good folks from our forum Vendors can also attest to, is the fact that bigger dollars does not always mean "better" in terms of engineering and fitament, for items like this. CAVEAT: some are just perfect! For items like cold air induction kits and the like, even body parts, there is almost always some cutting and fitting to be done, because the originals are sent to a second party for manufacture, and their quality control is not always as good or better when being "run". Also keep in mind that the molds are used over, and over again, and they loose tolerances after a while. REGARDLESS of price.
In my mind, the best way to do this is for everyone on the forum to petition a company like K&N to make an air filter replacement for the stock air filter housing. Although they may not due to the low volume, they may already have a generic filter that would fit. This would fit the bill just fine, and do the same job for WAAAAYYYYY less $$$$$$. All it would take is for someone to take some very good measurements and check their catalog or ask them for it.
On another note, when using a cotton gauze filter, regardless of make and model on a computerized fuel injected car, NEVER over oil the filter after cleaning. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and only spray a small amount of oil an the filter in one spot and let it sit overnight, as the oil will wick out to the rest of the filter and properly coat it without over-oiling it. This will minimize issues with oiling the fine wires on your MAF, causing computer issues.
After my last post I went to the K&N site to check. They do know of the Audi 4.2 and 5.2 by year, but do not have an application. The website did however, ask you to recommend an application for it.
We should all ask for it.
Stick with stock. No real gains for the money.

Not sure if it's the truth but they said my EVO filters were messing up MAF when they installed s/c. They replaced with new stock filters at no charge so didnt complain. Only thing now is white cotton filters don't look that great under glass window since they got pretty dirty during my 2,400 mile rally. I still have the originals which look much better and plan on putting in, But am I suppose to put some oil on them first?
