Does anyone know if any of the ECU, manifold and exhaust mods available will make it thru a smog test in California? I'm planning on keeping my car for a while and would hate to have to "undo" any mods to pass a smog test.![]()

Manifold and exhaust should not be a problem. ECU compliance will vary by supplier and I would recommend speaking to them about it. A program that would allow you to switch back to stock values would get around the issue nicely...

Which ECU programs have that functionality?
Right now, unfortunately none of them. The R8 ECU does not have that option built into it.
The alternative is to find a local supplier that can flash back to stock. This applies to owners around the country, but luckily you have a few good sources close to you...

I suspect if your Audi Dealer reflashes your ECU, whether for a service bulletin or just per your request, you will be back to a stock tune. Get your smog check done (at the Dealer?) then head back to your tuning vendor to get your ECU re-flashed. All reputable tuners should provide the "new" re-flash for no expense other than their dealer's labor charge. Someone correct me if I have this wrong...

I don't think dealers in CA or AZ do smog checks so it would be another trip. Why not go with Stasis at an Audi dealer for something completely legal? I think they have a engine software program (only) for the R8.

Are all Stasis mods done thru an Audi dealer considered smog legal?
Can't help you with the hardware nor the smog check, but REVO and APR are the two companies where you can switch between performance and factory software almost instantaneously.
I'm using REVO because APR requires the software manipulation via the cruise control lever, which my car is not equipped. REVO uses a hand-held unit which plugs into the OBDII port. With REVO, I was also able to further customize the software to my local fuel and ambient conditions.
I hope that helps.
Regards.
Cannot switch with APR, At least not yet. They can only load one program at this time and you can get the full program that will allow switching when it comes out, or should I say if it comes out? Did APR to my R8 over a year ago and it's still not available, I know people with RS4's who have been waiting over 2 years for full program. Seems APR is more interested in moving onto the next project instead of finishing the ones they already got peoples money from
