grats! and welcome man...
seems like a SC from Stasis or others, and exhaust ... seem to have the biggest addition..
Welcome to the site nic. Please put your location in your profile - helps with the different markets that the R8's sold in. Some questions can be very location specific.
The two biggest gains to be found for the V8 R8 is either supercharging or turbo charging.
Supercharging - there are three main players on the market. STaSIS (system by VF Engineering), and those other two that escape me at the moment. I want to say MTM, which is very pricey and then there's the other one (who's name escapes me) that looks like someone threw spaghetti into the engine bay. Very ugly installation.
The STaSIS setup seems to be the most popular by far and has rave reviews. There are three or four members here that have them and love them.
Twin Turbo charging is the other way to go. Heffner Performance is the main player. I believe that there's one other doing TT setups, but I can't give you any specifics. There are a few members here that have the TT setup. It's probably about the same number of members with each system.
Check this thread and you'll see different dyno runs of the systems.
I've driven an S/C setup car (desperado's) and my present car is set up with the Heffner TT system. My new, on order, car will be STaSiS powered.
They both have pros and cons when compared to each other, but overall, the final result is darn near the same. I think the TT setup may make more HP, but the S/C system seems to put the power to the ground better and more smoothly/controllably. The TT system seems a tad more ferocious in it's delivery. Pretty much, it's splitting hairs, though.
There's a write up (that was linked in desperado's signature - what did you do with it Bill?) from a Euro tuner magazine that does a comparison between the two systems. Search the site and see if you can find it. I'm not coming up with it at present.
Heffner stands behind his product for 1 year or 12K miles, STaSIS is in bed with Audi and is supposed to be covered under Audi's warranty.
Jeff at STaSIS, Nik at VF and Jason Heffner all are members of this site. I highly recommend that you contact them and ask as many questions as possible. I've spoken with them all and they're stand up, excellent people.
You can find them on the main forum page, down near the bottom under Supporting Vendors.
I hope this info helps and once again, welcome to the forum.

Nic, welcome to the R8 world.
I am also a huge fan of Lee Noble and his cars, and am impatiently awaiting Lee's new Fenix supercar. I am sure you will completely love the R8. It is, of course much heavier than the Nobles, but it does have similar fantastic mid-engine handling characteristics, and is perfectly balanced for the most hi performance of driving.
KfabR8's account of performance mods is simple and complete. I have a more modified R8 than most, with the VF/Stasis supercharger, and am completely satisfied with its big, smooth power. I track my car regularly, and I enjoy the smoothness of a supercharger over the sudden surge of the turbos. ( personal preference on this, but I also have a turbo Cayman track car.)
As you will soon find, the R8 is really a perfect war horse; a rock solid, hi performance platform that can handle huge horsepower very very comfortably. The benign beautiful sportscar that can easily handle the crazy stop and go motions of a daily driver while holding its driver in full luxury, truly becomes transformed into an angry, tight performing, yet very predictable and reliable beast when on a track.
It is really a wonderful hi performance car.
