    APR Tuner>ECU upgrande

Has anyone done a level 1 upgrade on their car. The horswpower incresase in not a whole lot, but I was curious whether this is a high risk venture for someone who has a warranty on the car.
They say that the dealer cannot detect the changes made on the ECU...
    Comments anyone?

There are a few threads on this in the performance section. Here are two recent ones:

    Which tuner? ABT, MTM Others???

APR flash for V10 really ready for prime time ?

I will probably do the APR, or possibly STaSIS tune this spring and let you know.

I've thought about doing performance upgrades but I hardly ever get a chance to even use all of the 525 horses under my right foot so I've pretty much decided not to bother doing it myself.

I am also interested in the APR ECU flash though not necessarily for the power gains. I had their chip for my A4 and the ability to switch programs was rather attractive to me. Admittedly, having to use the cruse control buttons to do so was rather a pain.

However, I am planing to hack into the wiring and add a micro controller (such as the Arduino) and couple that to a Keyfob system (such as Linx TEchnologies) which should allow program switch with simple button press.
I'll be doing this once APR decides to release at least the anti-thief program for the V10 ECU flash.

Could you tell me if the APR Flash is done via the Diagnostic Port on the R8 V8?

Does it have different mapping via Cruise Control?

Is done via the diagnostic port, only one program can be downloaded which means your stock wont even be saved.

    Re: APR Tuner>ECU upgrande

For a $1,000 I guess it's worth it but don't expect the claimed gains. Here is my dyno that has before and after APR install, Also the before and after dyno's did include having Stasis exhaust on car.

Before 338 awhp after 350 awhp
Before 273 awtq after 280 awtq

It did seem to make a more noticeable positive butt dyno difference on how car drove.

But don't hold your breath on a full program being available any time soon, Did mine 18 months ago and still not available and people who did on RS4's have been waiting about 3 years. Not sure why? Are they having problems putting multiple programs on new Audi ECU's? Or do they just move on to the next car model once they have your money? When I had supercharger installed having the APR tune became a problem, They could not overwrite it and had to contact Audi in Germany to bring my car back to stock first.

Hmmm, so maybe the gains came from the Stasis exhaust??
