    Exhaust valve disconnect on Spyder

I've seen the disconnect instructions for the coupe but is the Spyder the same? On the coupe you can get at everything under the glass engine cover whereas access is limited with the storage compartment for the hood on the Spyder. Advice appreciated.

Nope. You have to remove the right rear tire and the inner wheel well (15 Torx screws). Full pictorial instructions by member Toecutter so find him and search his posts and you'll find it. I paid a mechanic $100 to do it and it took him a half hour. It's worth doing as the sound is much improved.

It took me a while but I found Toecutter's step-by-step instructions with pics here:
Disconnect exhaust valve, so always open?

No E-valve disconnect of coupe and Spyder are slightly different. If you need the job to be done you can take it to a local mechanic. Its not as easy as it seems to be.

I had a mechanic do it and it took him 25 minutes from start to finish. Anyone with some tools and patience can do it themselves but it's easier to sign a check than it is to do it one's self and far less likely to cause problems if one isn't mechanically inclined. The best bet is to show the mechanic these helpful instructions (post #228) created by our member Toecutter:

Is this worth doing even if you have a custom exhaust? Sorry to hijack the thread
