I wanted to wait until I had logged a good deal of road and track time before posting my impressions of my Heffner TT V10. Before the conversion, I had driven the car for a year, including 6 track days. Since the conversion, I have logged (3) days at Lime Rock Park and (2) days at VIR. In addition, I have the car for 20+ hours on the road, including highway and local use.
In short, this car is simply FANTASTIC!
The HP and torque bands are extremely smooth (I will post dyno sheets when I get them from EPL). Huge amounts of power (660 hp @ all four wheels on a Mustang Dyno) are available at all engine speeds and there is virtually no turbo lag unless you are lugging the engine. The sweet spot? The entire rpm band. Actually, there is a particularly sweet spot that is great if you are tracking your car: At 7200 rpm there is another surge of power all the way to redline.
With all the available power, you have to be judicious with the throttle unless you have the car pointed in a straight line with plenty of clear road ahead. However, this power is absolutely controllable with appropriate throttle input. Jason built this package with track use in mind. He was right on the money.
When you want raw power, it delivers. Punch the throttle, the rear end squats, the nose lifts and the car rockets forward. This car is blistering FAST! And this is with only 6-7 lbs. of boost.
A suspension upgrade (already underway) is all that is needed to round out the package.
So what about around town? The car is as well behaved and driveable as it ever was and with better gas mileage to boot.
My hat's off to Jason Heffner, Tony at European Performance Labs, and Danek and Ryan at EuroTech Motorsports NJ.
Great job!
