    O.CT Supercharger: 565hp, 560Nm torque!

    YouTube:
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0uhdaP0iWM&feature=youtube_gdata_player"]YouTube - ‪R8 4.2i V8 - 565 PS‬‏[/ame]

Never heard of them, but those are solid numbers. From article:
O.CT have released details on their latest package for the Audi R8 V8. They’ve added a supercharger to the standard mix to create a more powerful car to rival the stock Audi R8 V10 and the R8 GT.

The supercharger features a CNC mastered aluminum holding system, a tension pulley made by Good Year, a custom made suction system, an internal overflow-overpressure-system, a crank case with vent system and a modified set of toothed belts. O.CT offers one year of product warranty without restrictions on the mileage.

O.CT have also replaced the engine management with specific ECU software to maximise efficiency as well as removing the Vmax limiter. A stainless steel exhaust system is available as an option.

Power, due to the changes, is now up to 565hp and 560Nm of torque. 0-100km/h is completed 0.7 seconds faster than the OEM version. 0 to 250km/h is completed in close to 24 seconds. That’s 9 seconds faster than the standard car. A kit for the R8 V10 is in the works.

But no real details on whose compressor this is, etc. And where's the V10 version? pricing?

Although this picture sheds a bit of light: http://www.oct-tuning.com/images/sto...u_DSC_0005.jpg

    Re: O.CT Supercharger: 565hp, 560Nm torque!

Remember that all supercharger and turbo engines can indeed reach higher HP number simply by significantly raising their boost levels. The VF/StaSIS superchargers boost levels are calculated for providing very great HP gains, all the while preserving the long term health and reliability of the engine. These boost levels are not random, nor meaningless numbers. Long term engine reliability is as important as larger power production in designing the VF/STaSIS supercharger systems.

There are real reasons why the bigger HP supercharger systems and the even bigger turbo forced induction systems cannot offer meaningful warranties with their products. All of these other newer forced induction system manufacturers are using the SAME original Audi engines as do VF/ STaSIS, and all will have the same engine designed limitations.

    Re: O.CT Supercharger: 565hp, 560Nm torque!

Bodhii, how much really of a science is it to determine the optimal amount of boost which produces enough power yet maintains or at least keeps the longevity of the engine reasonable? Is there a real science here, or is it more like a gut feeling of those doing the system?

These new kids on the block seem to use the exact same supercharger used by other prominent firms.

It's probably even the exact same unit (manufacturer, capacity), the only difference being is probably the pulley wheel which is of different size, (smaller) to produce more boost.

how much really of a science is it
The same science that measures stress on all metals.
LOL,.. I enjoy your attitude, but please don't enter the world of serious engineering.

As to being the same parts, you really have NO idea what you are talking about.

Kindly elaborate, both for me to learn what I got wrong, and for the rest as well.

Remember, the R8 V8 engine is of a fairly high compression ratio. The c.r. goes up as the boost goes UP. Too much compression for too long and boom. In simple terms. Most Ford G.T. owners do the pulley mod to their S.C. for big additional H.P.
