    First experience with SC'd V8

I'm just a few days and a few hundred kms into my newly STaSIS supercharged V8. This was the right choice for me to get a bit more power since I've got the car just the way I want it, and it's a long way to a V10 from a 2008 car in this market (several times the cost of the SC). Here's the story so far:

    What I love:

    1. The urgent power that comes on with minimal delay – my butt dyno tells me that STaSIS’ improvement claims are real world even if the dyno measurements top out below that (amazing how different dynos are from one to the other and as a function of ambient conditions).

    2. This power puts the V8 into the big leagues with the V10 (and supercars at large)! It's quite startling when the SC hits full song which is pretty much immediate. Check out the attached pdf which shows my new curves (yellow highlights) compared to a Ferrari 360 (red highlights) which they had on the dyno just before me

    3. The very subtle whistle from the SC as things are getting spooled up from low revs, and which quickly disappears into the other glorious noises.

    4. How well done the STaSIS ECM software is in balancing the needs for taking advantage of the SC while allowing the car to be driven smoothly around town in mixed traffic.

What’s going to take some getting used to:

    1. How it comes off-boost quite abruptly when backing off the gas under hard acceleration – it’s going to take me a while to get the gas pedal modulation timing just right to smooth out the upshifts and other transitions under these conditions - practice, practice, practice

Have put about 5,000 miles on since my install and really does turn the car into a beast. When I first had installed I found under hard acceleration I would back off on pedal a little since I was startled at how quick the car pulled, found applying steady pressure to the pedal made it much better. Also think it has something to do with the dead spot that has been discussed here, i never really noticed that until I supercharged.

'beast' is a good word - it really is quite a different experience! And, I'm sure the off-boost experience is exactly as you say - the acceleration is so startling at first it's hard not to back off and likely confuse the system. This is a 'problem' I'll get used to

Congratulations, Doug! I saw your car being worked on at Open Road and met the Stasis tech and engineer there as well. You've really upped the ante. Enjoy in good health!

Congrats indeed! I was pleasantly surprised by the V10 SCer's ability to handle "normal" or should I say "sane" driving! I imagine the V8 is just as pleasant, if not better! Enjoy.
