New APR Performance R8 Aero Kit

New APR Performance R8 Aero Kit

    (Teaser)

This new full aero kit is ALMOST ready for release. The kit is on my VF/STaSiS supercharged R8. The APR Performance aero kit will consist of a front splitter, side aero panels, and a fully functional aero rear wing. They are made with the finest carbon fiber construction.
The pricing and availability info will be released very soon.

APR Performance will have joined the R8talk site as a vendor by that time. I am not financially connected with them in any way.

    Bodhii,
Were they able to quantify the changes in down force with the addition of each component? How does this "kit" compare to what Audi does with the R8 LMS racing vehicle?

Hey Freshmeat, no worries, man. I seriously doubt that either Audi Sports or APR had your aesthetic sensibilities in mind when they are designing aero performance modifications that are made to provide improved air flow, downforce and handling capabilities for their track cars.

Mngolfer, APR Performance does not use real-life windtunnel testing. They have been designing race car aero improvements and modifications for many years on several different types of race cars, and do use modern computer simulations exclusively, just as do some real-life F1 racing teams.

As of today, I have not yet tested this final kit on track, but do intend to accomplish that "hateful" task in the very immediate future.

Well I actually like the LMS Audi, the aggressive styling matches the rest of the car IMO; from the flared fenders to the opened-bottom rear valence...everything looks proportionate and equally mental.

Will APR be making a plastic vented windows or a lightweight hatch? If I can't land the GT, I'd be interested in weight reduction for my car.

LOL,.. I think many of us would also enjoy a fully functional R8 LMS aero widebody kit. When you are ready to offer this at a reasonable price, please let us know. Until then, we wouldn't want functional design to get in the way of what you see as "proportionate and equally mental."

there can't be balance? I think PPI's stuff is pretty **** nice, proportionate and quite mental. Oh btw, do you know if this stuff is going to be just as ridiculously priced as PPI? lol.

Believe me, this aero modification is not for you, nor is it about what you think. It's just not for you, nor does it want you as a customer. It is NOT PPI. Nor does it want it to be like PPI. I am sure you a perfect PPI style customer. And they should value you forever.
    Good Luck, "Dude".

What's with the "dude" and condescension? PPI is just as functional and has even been tested in an actual wind tunnel. And in my opinion as aesthetically appealing as it is functional. If you're their pr rep/spokesperson they did a shotty-a$$ job in the selection process.

You seem to have extremely negative reactions and become childishly unreceptive of feedback when a difference in opinion is shared. Take a chill pill "dude" and I don't need you to tell me what is or isn't for me, you don't know me just as you don't know at 1st hand what heffner's tt setup is like, so maybe you should think a little before you mouth off stupid remarks.

And FYI I actually like the front splitter, and called apr about it today, but if I have to deal w/ dipsh!ts like you, forget about it!

Btw if anyone else had any interest, APR doesn't have any idea on eta or pricing or availability. They just barely got the 1st prototype together recently, so it could be months out according the person I spoke with on the phone.
