I'm about to pull the trigger on a forced induction system for my V10, but I'm debating on the cost vs value scenario.
Although I personally have no desire to quarter mile my car as a habit, it is a good sense (especially with R-Tronics that have fairly consistent shift rates) to gauge the relative power/real world performance increase of a forced induction system on this car.
So my question is to all of the Turbo'd or SC'd V10's out there... have any of you quarter mile'd your cars (on street tires) and if so, what were your best times and trap speeds?
The reason I ask this is that there are a few options out there. Bolt on Stage 1 kits, bolt on Supercharger kits, and then Stage 2, and Stage 3 kits (like the real high end stuff).
What I want to know is relative trap/quarter mile speeds between varying levels of HP based on dyno's, so for example if a Stasis SC puts out 710hp, and delivers a 10.5 second quarter at 150mph, and a TT at 800hp delivers 10.4 second quarter at 154mph, and the cost difference is $20k, then obviously that $20k isn't worth spending to me.
Before you say it, yes, I know my times/trap speeds were hypothetical pulled out of thin air to prove a point, they are not indicative of any kind of real world result.
I just want the best performance value for my dollar, and I wanted some sort of relative metric to gauge real world gains because there is a point where the cost exceeds the value to me and I'm trying to find that sweet spot to decide what the magic HP number is to give me what I want.
So all you forced induction V10 guys out there... if you have dyno/quarter mile information, I'd love to see it!
Thanks
