Hi all
Has or does any body know how to removed the speed limiter on a v8?
Good idea or not?

A long time ago I saw a video of someone driving a V8 R8 on the autobahn going 203 MPH on the speedometer. No idea how accurate the speedometer is at this speed. It looked REALLY scary. He must have also removed the rev limiter because he was hitting over 8200 rpm. He was an accident waiting to happen.

My top speed was 147 mph but had more to go i think the set speed for german cars eu regulation is 155 mph is it not i sure a v8 is good
for more.

Was this the video? Not the v8 though. A little under 203 mph, it should look scary.

Not the same video. The one I saw was in the daylight and the V10 was not out yet. It must have been early in 2009.

Take it to somewhere like APS for a remap and they will remove the limiter.The 155mph limit is just a gentlemans agreement that some German manufacturer stick to (Audi/Bmw,Mercedes but not Porsche) that was introduced to stop speed limits being imposed on Germanys Autobahns.Many cars can far exceed this limit e.g M5, whether it is safe to drive at those speeds is another thread.Some cars do actually exceed 155mph without the limiter removed, maybe you could find a empty runway to find out and let us know

I know I have had my V8 over 155 MPH at BIR. I don't think the R8 speed limiter is set at 155 MPH. The manual says it is set at 187 MPH.

My V10 went straight over no problem

The only limiter is the driver when you get to 180+ everything starts to blur.
