You have to remove the boot trim. I discovered my crack because you have to take off the trim to check the brake fluid which is what I was doing. OPE just reported another R8 at his dealership with the exact same problem. That makes me [KOPPO] DANKO and JBK plus OPE with the EXACT same problem. Clearly there is a problem and if we can get more members to check their brake fluid and check for these cracks we might be able to seek some recourse from AUDI. My dealer confirmed a drop in value due to my incedent between $15 - 18,000!

Absolutely agree but we need more incident reports from other R8 owners. Members please check your brake fluid. Doing so will reveal the crack. My dealer told me my car's value has dropped between $15-18,000 due to my crack and there is the real concern for a powerful car with an underbuilt structure. I'm hoping they sort this out amicably, especially since this is the halo product.

you all need to send something in WRITING to audi and not to a dealer....time to start documenting the issues......

    Re: Structural Failure - Warning

i've just entered the market for a used 2008/2009 manual V8 coupe in the UK. This issue sounds terrifying and is giving me doubts as to whether i should proceed.

any updates as to how this has panned out with Audi would be great. Good luck to you all with it!
