Thanks mark25 & andyhofer, I will belooking into them when my warranty runs out early next year.
2009 R8 V10, IBIS white w/ carbon fins.
When I bought my 2008 R8 v8 last spring it had 32k miles and the OEM warranty had just expired. Purchased the best GMAC warranty (called Repair Advantage Max) through the exotic car dealer for $3,000 to extend coverage for 4 years and 48k additional miles (to 80K). The warranty has a $100 per visit deductible and covers everything other than wearables. The warranty has already paid out $500 to the Audi dealer to replace the right front hood release cable and an engine sensor. The transaction was easy with the dealer working directly with the insurance company. The cost to repair this vehicle is at least double any typical car and the warranty gives me piece of mind knowing that I can keep everything on the car like new at almost no additional cost for 4 years regardless of how much I choose to drive it.

For you UK motorists...
I called UVW just now to get a quote and I was given a breakdown of costs of cover based on my R8 V10 (first registered Oct 2008, approx 14k miles).
Details of inclusions are: http://usedvehiclewarranty.co.uk/war.../car-warranty/
Type of cover: Exective Plus
Price for 1 year: £695.00
Price for 2 years: £1042.50 (charged at 18 months - effectively 6 months free)
Price for 3 years: £1,390.00 (charged for 2 years - effectively 1 year free)
Additional charges for (quoted per year)
Cat convertor: £30.00
In-car entertainment: £30.00
Wear & tear: £150.00
Sensor cover: £25.00
Breakdown cover: £30.00
I can't remember if this also included main dealer labour rates but I think it includes that as standard. I will ask if/when I follow through.
Also to pay by installments, there is an additional charge of £16.00, with installments over a maximum of 6 months.

Get a friend to join at the same time and pay £1200. Its what I paid
V210 - Silver / Black with full CF and part leather
V6 - Orange / blue - sold and missed
m3 09 my best car ever
In case any of you were interested, I managed to get the 3 year cover with all additional covers (wear and tear, entertainment, sensor, cat convertor, main dealer repairs) excluding breakdown cover for £1,700. That's over £300 from the original price quoted, and is spread over 6 months. It doesn't hurt to ask for a deal.
Again, this is on the v10.
I also got some money off on my renewal of my insurance so I'm pretty pleased.

Mine's a V8 £1,400 which included wear and tear.
Now I was thinking, my car will be 5 years old in September 2013, my warranty runs out on November 2014. The policy has different levels of cover based on age. As I'm keen to keep the top level, Executive Plus if car is less than 5 years old, I thought I'd call them and ask what I could do to get 3 years warranty from September 2013, because if I leave it till next November I wouldn't get Executive plus, as the car would be over 5 years.
They said that when my policy comes up for renewal in November 2014, they would allow me to keep the less than 5 year old Executive Plus. They would do this by letting me renew the policy on an annual basis. So at renewal I will buy a 1 year policy at the top level, they couldn't give me a price, but I guess that's because November 2014 is still a long way off. I'll see what happens then, but if the price isn't stupid, at least I can keep Executive Plus.
To be fair to UVW, they've treated me very well, so I have no reason to think they'll try to rip me off.
How did you get an extra discount off you car insurance? I'm looking to renew soon, but finding a company that will let me have a company car and have no claims discount on the R8 is tricky.
Never quite understand that you have to earn your NCD on two cars separately. Sainsburys told me that I could have full NCD on the R8 if I was to relinquish my company car. If I keep the company car, then I'll be entitled to no discount at all.
Admiral, will however let me have the company car and full no claims.
The daft thing is, if I had an accident in one of my cars, it will affect my NCD on both, even though I have to earn separate NCD for both cars. Talk about having your cake and eating it.
