Exclamation battery dead how to open luggage compartment when emergency cord not working

    Hello,

I'm running into a serious issue. The battery of my R8V10 had completely drainned when I forgot the air conditioner. I cannot open the luggage compartment neither with the electric way or the cord under in the emergency box (under the glove box).

I tried to charge the battery with POrsche Battery charger but it does not seem to be working.

Can anyone let me know if there is another way to open the luggage compartment?

The cord under the foot wall is where your best bet is. It has to be pulled hard. Try it again.

I have tried and it just stuck. My Audi advisor told me to pull it gently ("BE VERY CAREFUL AND GENTILE when pulling on that red release. If it feels like it is not working or not going to release, do not force it. It can break."), and if it is not going to work I need to tow the car to dealer !!! crying...

How hard should I pull? Did you try very hard?

    Bonnet/hood won't open!

Here is a link to another problem, regarding incomplete opening of the hood.
It shows a few pics of the actuator that opens, basically a plastic rectangle that can break.

The problem is that the wire is long and it requires more force than you think. Also, this is not used much and will be relatively stiff. I opened mine with my fingers in the loop, others I think it was V10Spyderman who describes putting a small screw driver in the look to get better leverage, and some members mentioned that the loop felt like it was cutting into their fingers, they had to pull so hard.

I suspect that there are varying degrees of force needed. Read through that link and try again.

I'm puzzled by your audi advisor suggestion, except that ultimately you are pulling on a piece of plastic and they don't want you to blame them if it does break. What other choice do you have?

    Good luck with it.

I don't know if it would help at all but try to have someone apply some good downward pressure on the bonnet from the front while/before you pull, then pull and see if it helps...

I had this problem just this week. I inadvertently knocked the little white plastic rectangle loose when replacing the trunk liner, and so of course the hood wouldn't open with the electric release. Understand that my hood is very easy to latch (much easier on this 2012 than on the 2009) but I still had to pull very hard on the emergency cable to get the trunk to open. I couldn't do it with my bare hand, I have too much aversion to pain. So I put a small end wrench through the loop and was able to pop the hood with a firm (but not massive) pull on the cable. Give it another try!

You need to find a point to recharge the battery, a good point is the starter motor, they usually have a large +ve cable direct from the battery, we used to have to do this with 944/968 Porsche

I have to ask...how did your battery die from leaving the air conditioner ON? Doesn't the a/c turn off when the car turns off....???

The lighter sockets are disconnected unless the car is powered on (key on).
