    V10 headlights poor illumination?

    Hi all,

Now that it's darker earlier, and I'm doing more driving at night, I noticed that my V10 headlights only have a throw of about 1 1/2 car lengths. After trying with my Audi mechanic to adjust them to be higher, they don't seem to be adjustable for higher illumination.

Anybody noticed the same poor higher limits, or is it just me?

I can't believe that with the exotic, top notch LED headlights that we have, that we have such short illumination pattern on our cars.

I think the illumination from the LED headlamps are very good. I compare them to
my non-LED headlamps on an A8L and even the obnoxious HID headlamps of my wife's
ML and feel thr R8 LED's do great.

What is your 'other' daily driver that you could be comparing to?

    Hi Paul.
That does not look right. I didn't notice such range limitations on mine. It is possible that the auto leveling is messed up on your car? We should get together soon and compare beam pattern.

I actually worry sometimes that the LEDs are a hazard to oncoming drivers they're so bright. The turn signals too are super bright.

    Re: V10 headlights poor illumination?

Thanks for the replies guys, now I know that I'm an exception. My daily drivers are my M3 and CRX Si, and they illuminate just fine, that is, the beam goes further than 1 1/2 car lengths.

Amusing to see so many comedians here...yes, we do drive without sunglasses at night, here in California.

The reason I'm puzzled is that I was with my "expert" mechanic (Audi R8 specialist) the whole time he was adjusting them, and the left was fine, according to headlight adjusting device they had, but the right just couldn't be raised properly. And yet, while driving at night, both of them seemed "low", and wouldn't illuminate beyond 1 1/2 car lengths. That mechanic even put in a call to Audi NA, and they told him, to keep trying, there's no "special" fix.

I guess I'll go back and try it again with him.

Yes, Radius8, we'll have to get together, and compare...and even go for a drive...haha.
