Clutch Replacement R-Tronic HELP!!!

My car (2009 R-Tronic) is in for its annual service at 10k (1.5 years old). The dealer is telling me the clutch is at the end of service and needs to be replaced. They are telling me the cost is $8,400 to replace. SEEMS REALLY HIGH. I have called some other Audi dealerships around the country and have been told 3 things

1) they have never replaced a R8 R-tronic clutch at 10k
2) The cost is around $5,500
3) I should call Audi NA and ask they cover it (I have a case open)


I am going to the dealer tomorrow to look over the computer read outs and discuss this with the Service Manager.

Has anyone had their clutch replaced? at what cost? Any thoughts on how handle best????

The clutch and pressure plate run around US$1900. Labor is where they get you. It's still within warranty on both mileage and time: Audi should be responsible for it.

what is the warranty coverage for the clutch?

The warranty on everything but consumables is 4 years or 50,000 miles. Check your owners manual for specifics.

Mines a 2009 and has 21k on it and the dealer tells me I have 50% left. So 10k replacement sounds like a warranty job seeing as R-Tronic avoids some of the abuse you could give it with your left foot!

i have done 46000 miles before chaning my first clutch

and the changing cost was 4722 dollars..

How many times have YOU used Launch Control?

I have used LC 0 times. See screen shot from the dealer computer on the Clutch wear

I think they may be misinterpreting the numbers. From other posts in the forum it sounds as though when your index approaches 3000 you are ready for a new clutch. Yours looks like it has almost no wear.
