I don't know if those who own 2010 cars suffer from this, but if you have an 08 or 09, the Bluetooth hook up is, well, LOUD. There seems to be no way to adjust this until you receive a call (and have had the crap scared out of you when it rings). Search the threads and you'll see this has been a problem for many of us.
My bluetooth decided to quit talking to my phone (LG VX8360 - no, I don't have a smart phone...) recently. It would still hook the phone to the car and make/receive calls, but it wouldn't access the phone's contact book, tell me who's calling and such. It also liked to cycle on and off. Bing, hooked up, bing, disconnected. This happened over and over and over, but at random times.
I was able to show Audi that the system was not right and they replaced the Bluetooth module. After changing out the boxes, the new one had to be recoded and in the coding was an option for default sound level - and it was set to 0. My phone doesn't scream at me anymore! Even the tone that tells you it's been connected/disconnected is much quieter.
Now, this is total speculation, but I have to wonder if this coding could be applied to an older Bluetooth module?
If you're friendly with your local Audi R8 tech, it might just be worth while to have him hook up the new diagnostic computer (Audi is replacing the older units) and see if there's any way to set the sound level on your system if it's annoyingly loud.
I want to hook my Ross-Tech up and take a look at the coding for the Bluetooth. If I find anything, I'll report back.
