    Unhappy My tale of woe

So i pick it up on the 21st Jan. New V10/manual UK based.

23rd jan i note the emissions warning light comes on, flashing. I am driving by the dealership so pop in and they tell me its Ok just go for a drive and "clean out the cats".

Couple of days later it comes on solid. Off to the workshop they keep it in overnight reset the system and give it back the next day.

Later the same day on comes the light, i am off on vacation so leave the car with them for the week. I also point out that the windscreen wipers "make a racket" when on and that rainwater is literally pouring into the leather and lights above the engine.

    I get back to :

it was an earthing problem with a wire and coil thus reporting back that four cylinders from the 6-10 bank were showing an error. This has now been fixed.

A new wiper unit was ordered and installed.

A new part has been ordered for the back as the current one is slightly warped thus allowing water into areas where it should not be going.

So i actually get to drive my new toy for five days before the emissions light comes on again. As it is also raining i note, with glee, that the wipers are making a racket.

In summary the garage have had my car more than i have, in the first month, and done the same amount of miles, that i have, by way of testing.

Anyone else had such issues or am i the unlucky one who has ended up with a "Friday afternoon" car.

On the bright side they have given me an A6 allroad estate to have "fun" in

Maybe i should have got the maserati after all!

Sorry to hear your pain mate. My EPC light came on recently for the first time with about 26,000 on the clock. I took it down to Audi and they replaced the whole engine manifold which would have cost me $9,000 if I didnt have a warranty in place. Unfortunatley after getting the car back the EPC light has come on again, which means I will have to leave the car with Audi again

Dajjy, insist on a new car, you seem to have a bad egg, i know others on this forum who have had problems, and they got new cars and the origional one to drive until the new one arrives, go straight to the top, Jeremy Hicks, head of Audi UK.

    Thanks for the advice.

To complicate matters it is on a fleet policy but i am writing to the suppliers today voicing my concerns.

I will update as and when.

    Re: My tale of woe

    So -- the update.

Car now been in for 6 days and just about to be delivered back to me.

Had the techs from MK call and tell me that whilst the warning lights came on and whilst it was reporting misfires in 5 of the cylinders there was in fact no misfire. Claims the engine is "learning" for the first 3000 miles.

So it's been left that i will take it back today and if the warning light comes on again then i will reject the car and they will replace it.

To be honest i hold out little confidence but am so sick of driving the A6 allroad, that they gave me, that i am prepared to give it another chance.

Hopefully I wont have to add any more posts to this thread but will do should the problem occur again.

    Fingers crossed

Look at it this way. Drive in ease knowing what you can hold over them. If for some reason that check engine light comes on again, you will get a brand new R8. That's something to smile about.

I had significant problems with my second V8, Audi fitted a new engine at 1,300 miles, they had the car 6 weeks, I had the choice of loan car R8, RS........... I opted for RS6 (v10, crazy car!) long story short, I rejected the car after engine change, problem still persisted, Audi Uk were very good, I ended up with one of the first v10's at slight cost to me, I was happy, Bev on the R8 Team is a real star, overall the issue was resolved to my satistfaction, still love Audi's, R8GT arriving in May, happy days. Stick with it, the R8 owning experience should be a joy..

    That's a great story on Audi's commitment.

I had the same experience when my V8 decided to blow up.

    Bent over backwards to please.

It why I keep coming back for more.
