Average maintenance costs R8 Manual Trans

Hi Everyone,
I'm looking to buy a used R8 (may have very little manufacturer warranty left or none at all) and I'm trying to get an idea of the average costs involved with replacing parts, like brakes or anything else that has been known to break or just need to be replaced due to wear and tear overtime on the car.

Anything I should be aware of or ask about before buying the R8?

I've seen cars with over 20k or 30k miles on them, how do these cars hold up after 20k miles?

Cheap!! I have done 26,000 miles in just 14 months of ownership and had 2 services each costing around $800 (£500). Clock now has 34,000 on it. Clutch will last me 45,000 miles at least. Since new car has only had to have the rear breaks changed once and the front and rears still work great now. Ive got thru 2 sets of tyres tho - each set costing around $1500. I think its amazingly cheap to run tho just a bit more expensive than a 3 series BMW (was my previous car). Dont make your R8 a garage queen put miles on her

I took out an extended warranty as my cars manufacturer warranty just ran out. Doubt I will be renewing it next year tho (cost me £1300 for a year).

hmmm blew my clutch after doing a prolonged reversing manoeuvre, apparently can happen, would have cost approx £3000, but was covered by the garage as had only been out of garage a week. the clutch is a non warranty part. also can be blown by repeated launches.. just had mine serviced for oil change £750, for a pollen filter and oil change at 8000miles and 18/12 of ownership.. otherwise no problems

Where was you reversing too?

Not bad at all i think when you hear of what people pay for ferrari and lambo.

Tyres and brakes wear quick with track use but I don't have many miles on mine and I have done most of the work myself or close friend so might not be the best with cost

but oil was £110-£120 filter was around £28 IIRC

thanks for the input guys, I was under the impression that I would have to treat it like a supercar and just drive it on the weekends. i'll use it as my daily driver, since work is less than 10 miles away

I use mine as a daily driver - entirely stress free. Fuel economy in traffic is horrendous though - that's by some distance the greatest expense I've encountered.

Try a DBS 10-13 AVG mpg.

Means I work in the garden now and just potter around I think I might keep the R8 as a daily its much nicer to drive than a 458 and A5 tdi and also going to loose huge money on it its only 7ish months old .

I reckon I could get 19+ mpg out of the R8.

On a motorway sure you can top 19. In London traffic it drops as low as 7mpg.

my car right now gets 4mpg in traffic, 12mpg on the hwy

fuel economy is not really a concern because any other car will get better mpg
