    Quick TPMS ?

I searched under TPMS but couldn't find a thread with the info I need.

Just increased the tyre pressure in my newly arrived 2010 as all four were about 4 psi too low. Now I need to 'tell' the TPMS that the new pressures are the correct ones but can't seem to find anywhere within the menu system or in the owner's manual how to do this. Since I'm off on a long(ish) drive tomorrow I'd like to get this done. Can anyone point me in the right direction re: registering new pressures into the OEM TPMS?

    TIA, Bish

Why? Is the TPMS indicator lamp flashing on the instrument cluster? If so, either take it to dealer to reset, or simply drive anywhere from 20-40 miles or so, and the computer will reset itself.

I may be mistaken how the TPMS works in the R8 versus my 2010 S4; if so I apologise. In my S4, when you adjust the psi in the tyres, you have to 'tell' the computer that the psi you've set the tyres to is the new norm. Then if there's a loss of pressure from what you've set, the TPMS warns you. I have just adjusted the psi in my just arrived 2010 and want to simply tell the computer that the new psi is the normal. Can you do this with the R8? I can't imagine you can't as its basically how all of the TPMS systems operate.

My 2011 V10 doesn't have this function. The TPMS sensors are just factory calibrated to throw a code below about 35 psi, and there's no ability for the user to "recalibrate" the pressures.

    Kind of retro.

Thanks for the answer. I thought I was going mad not being able to figure something so simple out! lol

I liked the function on my last Porsche which actually showed the pressure of each tire.

Yeah, the TPMS system on the R8 is a joke on several levels, chief of which is the need to do a stupid reset procedure when swapping from winter to summer wheel set.

My understanding from reading here is that as long as you've only ever had the OEM wheels on the car, you can install one other set of wheels with the correct TPMS sensors installled, and the car will accept them after driving for a few miles without needing a re-set. Agree that the R8 system is archaic. In my '09 GT-R it was great to actually see the psi of all 4 tyres displayed.

Maybe, but my dealer didn't manage to do that twice. And charged me $40 for each time.

My VAS-5054 is on the way, I'll do it myself.
