Thumbs down Issue with Service !

i picked my car from service 2 weeks ago and i asked my service advisor about the breaks condition, because i didnt change the breaks since i got the car and the milage is 45,000 km ... he told me " sir no need to change the breaks now, we will change them when you rech 60,000 km, they are good enough"

i took the car today because i felt that the breaks are weak and squeeking ... nd he told me " sir you need to change 4 discs and replace your breaks "...

wtf and now it will cost me about $3,200 !

and the worst part is i cant do anything about it, i regularly check the brakes and the dealer says its fine and they are not :S , i think they wanted 4 my discs to wear, to charge me more .... its really bad!

Unfortunately Audi requires that the rotors and the pads be changed at the same time once the rotors get worn to a certain amount.

You might consider just changing the pads in the brake calipers if the rotors appear to be within the given measurements stamped into the aluminum part of the rotor. Get someone to measure how thick the rotors are and if they're not close to minimum, try just pads and see if that helps. Search a bit on the forum and you'll see this is a common issue.

You've managed to get fairly good life out of your rotors at almost 28,000 miles (had to convert for it to make sense to me) compared to many on this forum.

As mentioned you could just get your own pads and fit those. You could also look into a rotor upgrade, STaSIS makes Alcon based front and rear rotors, which will last long than stock rotors and you can fit whatever pads you choose with them.

The economy here in the states is dismal...Crooked ways to make a buck are EVERYWHERE you look. BUT in Dubai ???...Bad economy or you just met the crooks at your Audi Stealership. Good luck, and keep an eye out for yourself not to get taken to the cleaners.
