    Unhappy R8 Woes

Went to see my R8 yesterday at a Miami dealership. Car has been there over 1 wk for routine service as well as AC and manual gearbox problems. AC finally fixed, leak test found a leak by the dryer gasket. Gearbox had all of the cables replaced for 2nd time but 2nd gear still binding(difficult to engage). Mechanic feels that the transmission, at least the forks, need replacement. Car only has 5200 miles. Anyone else had/having problems with their manual transmission cars?

It does happen. My second one (09 V8 MT6) had the trans replaced around 9.5K. I have no clue why, though as I hadn't purchased it yet.

FWIW, the car now has close to 38K on it and has had no trans issues what so ever.

    Re: R8 Woes

I had trouble engaging 5th at RA this year. At first I thought it was me, but it happened 3 times. It's never happened to me before and I was certain the clutch was to the floor. Shifting slower seemed to solve the problem and I never had the problem on the street. Could it be a heat related issue? I'm wondering if either the shift cables stretch or if the clutch hydrolics can overheat.
