Interesting update on R-tronic clutch replacements

There's a V10 here at my local dealership that has the trans hanging on a hoist at the moment. The car has 8500 miles on it and the clutch is toast. Audi's replacing it free of charge. It's listed as a 21 hour job.

This morning while I was in the dealership trying to find my brake parts I was talking to the warranty guy and he informed me that Audi is now replacing the first clutch FREE of charge on R-tronic cars. He went on to tell me that he started searching Audi's info on this change out and was told "It's so new that we don't have it in the system yet."

So, for those of us that have R-tronics and have issues (may I not!), it would appear that Audi is stepping up and covering first time replacement on the house.

Now is this hearsay? I don't know. I'm just passing on what our local dealer's warranty guy shared with me.

Is this 'decision' in regard to the R-tronic clutch taken by AoA or Audi AG.

    Thanks

When will the aftermarket companies step in to make a clutch for this car which will get the job done?

I have to run back to Audi today now that I have a VIN number so I can order parts. I'll ask Walt (warranty guy) for more info.

Appreciate your time and effort. I've only done about 5000 miles (no launch) and yet my clutch is showing around 6000 units on the VCDS.

    Many thanks

Is the transmission a Grazziano unit identical to the the unit in the Gallardo? If so, then there are replacement clutches available including Kevlar units.
