    My car is falling apart

J/K, not in the true sense.

This happened after I went through what initially looked like superificla water on a highway while raining; turned out to be more than superficial so to speak. Was running at around 55-60 mph. Noticed this rubber thingy sticking out of the right front wheel area when I got home. Can I still drive this car (without pulling the rubber out) to the dealership you think (or just pull it out and drive it to the dealer)?

You can put that piece back in place by yourself. Open the hood and see how it is attached on the other side. Just re-attach it in the same way. I've done it a couple of times while I was cleaning the car and knocked that piece out of place. No need to bother your dealer with something like this.

It's held in only by friction. Make sure you push it back all the way, there a bit of a soft snap feel.

My '09 never came that lose but it kept coming lose. The Audi tech said they had a new part that had metal clips in rubber and they replace the old ones which were just rubber under warranty. You might see what your dealer can do for you. As stated above they are only friction fit with rubber or rubber with embedded metal.

Re: My car is falling apart

Similar thing has happened on my 3 month old coupe..but only peeking out of the guard.

I put it back in place but it dropped back down after a while again.

If they put a fix in the year changes ..it doesn't appear to work.

Never had the same problem on my other R8's

I let the dealer fix on next drive past.

Current Car build quality is as tight as a drum..no other issues at all.

I used a clear sealant caulk on my 08 that had thiis issue after I actually lost one. The sealant is strong enough to hold it, but still can be removed and cleaned when they add the clips at your next dealer visit.

Remove that rubber part, wash and clean it thoroughly (including the seam where it hooks up with the car), then dry it and place it in again.

If it's relatively snug, it should not easily move again as when the bonnet is closed it's held in place with pressure. It's when the part is dusty/dirty that it slips out of place easier.
