    Audi service issues - accountability

I've owned my Ibis white 2009 R8 for about 6 months and can't get enough of the V8 and the surgical handling of the beast! On the flip side I've noticed several issues with the car that I took up with my dealer as the car is under warranty.

Two visits to the dealership and they still cannot find any faults in the car. I went out with the technician couple of times but these issues only surface sometimes and did not do so during the drive with the tech. I decided to take video evidence on my blackberry and shared this with them. However they still claim that they cannot pinpoint what the problem is and say no issues show up when they hook the car up to diagnose it.

A few weeks later my car jumped in a parking lot and the car sustained some damage as a result, which is one of the several issues (along with a gearbox malfunction message) I outlined when I first took it to the dealer.
Now the dealer has sent me a quote and wants me to approve it and pay for this damage after which they will look into the problem again.

Would appreciate some thoughts on this issue in terms of similar experiences or how to deal with such a case as I've been having a couple of communications with the service manager and he does not want to take any responsibility for the mishap.

I've had exactly the same experience. My car has an intermittent no start problem and several other electronics issues. Audi says that the dealer has not been able to replicate the problem and no issues show up when they hook the car up to diagnose it. I also took videos which clearly showed the messages I was seeing on the Information Display and the car not starting. At first Audi said that the car was not performing normally. Then they attempted to backtrack and said that although that's what their Engineers had determined the dealer can not replicate the problem and there is nothing they can do. For whatever reason, Audi has recently taken a very hard line and now say that there is "nothing wrong with the car." After three service attempts I was left with no other choice than to retain an attorney and file a claim under the Florida Lemon Law just last week. I can't express how disappointed I am in Audi for not standing behind this car.

Just curious, but what kind of problems are you having? Are they drivability issues or just malfunction messages related to the gearbox?

Also, are you saying the issue you had in the parking lot are related to the problems you were having, or unrelated? By jumped, do you mean the battery was dead and you had to jump start the car? If so, I can't imagine that should cause any damage to the car. Sounds very strange.

I believe he is saying the car exhibited a bout of sudden acceleration.

I know what you mean. Something always gets lost in translation.

You don't explain the malfunctions in much detail, but perhaps your clutch needs looking at?

Could be the previous owner(s) may have taken the advice of a few on this forum to literally "drive it like you stole it" ...

I've had cars that got broken in, but no one bothered to steal them!

    Okay, that was lame.
