Car storage for winter in Midwest. Salt no way. Anything special?

I live in the Midwest and they add more salt on the roads than on pumpkin seeds. I can't do it and drive my brand new baby in the salt bath during the winter.

My question is. What do i need to do if I have to store my baby in the garage for a few months? I will wash and cover it for sure. Anything else?

I typed "Winter Storage" into the Google Search field in the Search pull down at the top of the page. It returned a bunch of R8Talk threads on the subject.

Thanks. I actually tried that before asking what seemed to be an easy topic to find in search but nothing. It was the search box curtain 3. Hard to know what search is good or bad around here.

You should take a few search boxes away that don't work or get ready to cut and paste that another thousand times this year.

Not complicated. Top up the gas, inflate tires to max rated, put on a batter tender. Keep mouse traps baited in the garage. That's it. Drive once in a while on perfect days if possible.

Aluminum bodied vehicle with the latest and greatest automotive paint and painting processes = DRIVE THAT THING IN WINTER!

A wash every now and then just to keep the crud off the car will suffice just fine.

Put snow tires on an drive the hell out of it. The car is better in winter than my Ml63 with snows on...

I'm not as brave as KfabR8, but I do take my R8 out as long the roads are free from salt. For those times, I take a long enough drive to get the engine up to temp and keep it there for a couple hours.

The only other thing I do is to add Stabil to the fuel.

Really. Do you? Michigan and Ohio are all the same. Interesting. My initial thought was hell no salt on my baby. You are saying bring it on.

Yes, I will drive mine every day, all year long. I do not fear anything that the DOT may put on the road and I enjoy some of what Mother Nature throws at us too.

The R8's a blast in adverse conditions and the only thing that will keep me from using it is the depth of the snow in my driveway (about 1000' long). If it gets much over 5 to 6 inches deep I'm forced to pull out the RS6 with Blizzaks on it and blaze a set of tracks. Once I get the drive cleared, it's R8 time, though.

Like I said, Audi uses extensive anti-corrosion processes and there's nothing to fear.

    DRIVE IT!!!
