    Easy question...Ctek battery tender

    Hi,

I am just storing my car and I have two alligator clips with my CTEK charger. I see where the red one goes but I'm not exactly sure where to stick the black one?

Also, does anyone know if there is any way to confirm that it is actually charging the car?

    Thanks!!

Red to red (positive), black to black (negative)

I don't know which model you got, but mine would both alert you if you mix the polarity, and would show you it's charging.

I suggest you go to their site, download the manual and understand your charger better before you use it, although it's very simple and should be pretty much plug and play. My ctek's model default mode is "maintain" which is what you need.

Thanks. I actually bought mine with a cigarette adapter and it worked fine on the cayman - but I'm much less familiar with car batteries. I was told when boosting black can go anywhere so I wasn't sure if this applied to chargers as well...

Mine has two modes, I think one is maintain and the other is snowflake - since it's a Canadian winter I use the snowflake mode.

Just to confirm then , I'd want to connect the BLACK to the part circled in green?

Yup. Black to ground, red to the positive. You can also attach the black clip to any unpainted screw that goes into the chassis, but since you have access to the ground lug, that's truly the best location.

Thanks very much! I know it was a silly question, but wanted to be sure

I'd really recommend that you at least skim the manual of your charger.

Out of curiosity, are the cigarette adapters fine for the R8? I recall reading somewhere that cig adaps do not work on all make / models.

The cigarette adapters in the R8 are switched with the car. Turn the car off and none of them are active..
