tyre life

im currently on just under 7000 miles on my v10 brought from new, have noticed the tyres are fading rapidly with loss of grip. is this the norm? was just wondering how many miles everyone else got out of their tyres. havnt tracked the car once! i tried searching tyres but could only find places to get them from, not life cycle. thanks in advanced

You're probably referring to your rear tyres... and in such a case it would be within the norm.

It's said that Michelin Pilot Suport Sport rubber for summer use can get higher mileage, and many members on the forum are testing those (and so far everyone I've heard of is happy) but it remains to be seen how they compare to other rubber in terms of life time. It's also very subjective so you'd have a hard time finding a measurement or a comment that you can say fits your scenario exactly in terms of weather, road condition/quality and driving style.
