    Battery charger?

With Porsche you could buy a battery charger or trickler that plugged into the cigarette lighter and kept the battery charged for those of us that did not drive the car as a daily driver.Does Audi have a similar device for the R8?

Have to charge via the battery in the bonnet. Audi doesnt have a 12 volt recepticle that stays on when the engine is turned off so you cannot use the Porsche Optimizer.

If you purchase the Audi OEM Optimzer which is a CTEK follow directions and it is an easy process.

Ctek is easy as pie and works great. Because my car is stored for the winter it is always hooked up to the Ctek. Take off cover plate in luggage compartment and voila...Battery is visible. Put red to positive and black to ground. Plug into outlet and your done.

Which CTEK should I get and do you just close the hood over the wires or just barely keep it open?

I use the CTEK 3300 and shut the hood over the wires (it doesn't pinch them hard).

    Re: Battery charger?

I also use the CTEK 3300 and shut the hood over the wires (it doesn't pinch them hard if the wires lay flat). I have not looked at the charging lights. I will look next time I go to see my car.
