smoke and burning smell

couple of times i have smelt a burning smell when getting out of the car but not really thought too much about it (its now done just under 5k miles). Today i get out of it to see quite a quantity of smoke billowing out of the offside rear, basically from the space to the upper left of the rear tyre.

Thoughts anyone?

Clearly not normal ... What colour is the smoke, and what does it smell like?

Oil leak onto the exhaust? Parking brake adjustment? Something wrong with that calipre?

it just looked like smoke (no blueish tinge or anything just smoke)

its not coming from the tyre but from the gap above the wheel towards (you can tell i am techy!!) where the engine is

I will get it checked out just wondered if anyone had similiar.

I don't recall whether you have a V10 or V8. The oil cooler in a V10 is located in the left rear wheel well. If yours is V10, perhaps it might be an oil leak?

Or, most obvious, check the rear tire for signs of rubbing on something.

Thanks i do have a v10, not the one pictured as Audi had to replace it with a new vehicle.

There is no rubbing so oil leak may well be the issue though, interestingly, this new car has now done 5000 miles and i have not had to fill up the oil whereas my original v10 i had to fill the oil around the 3000 mile mark.

Anyway i will call the garage and update as appropriate.

I had something similar recently. Turned out to be a coolant leak. Quick fix at the dealer. U can check if the smoke is coming from the side where the tank is
